'Not called!' did you say? 'Not heard the call,' I think you should say. Put your ear down to the Bible, and hear him bid you go and pull sinners out of the fire of sin. Put your ear down to the burdened, agonized heart of humanity, and listen to its pitiful wail for help. Go stand by the gates of hell, and hear the damned entreat you to go to their father's house and bid their brothers and sisters, and servants and masters not to come there. And then look Christ in the face, whose mercy you have professed to obey, and tell him whether you will join heart and soul and body and circumstances in the march to publish his mercy to the world. I read your article today concerning being the Christian rather than displaying the Christian. I wear a cross on my baseball cap above the logo of my company (NEIE Inc.). I and my son own the company. I do this in part to remind myself who is really in charge of my life and that of our company.
This has led to many meetings with other Christians. It leads to opportunities to speak about Christ. It reminds me everyday of who I should be like and how my actions are perceived by others. I see the reactions of those I meet to the symbolic display of Christ - a definite change of language, of interaction and actions. I see the reminder of who is really in charge in faces of those with whom I interact on a daily basis. I also see the hate that some have for Jesus Christ, in their facial expressions and actions. I am willing to deal with that.
The cross brings up conversations about God and Jesus Christ.
We display the cross as well as doing what we feel Christ would have us do in our company and in our lives.
Displaying the cross is an essential part of my life. If everyone did the same, instead of being politically correct, I believe we would have a different world.
Mainly, when I put on the cap every day, it reminds ME that I have obligations to God and Jesus Christ. And I like to thank Him everyday.
We need Churches with crosses on top. We need bumper stickers. We need brochures telling others. We need the whole gamot of communication to tell others of Jesus Christ and God and the Holy Spirit.
Thank you for letting me express my opinion.
