'Not called!' did you say? 'Not heard the call,' I think you should say. Put your ear down to the Bible, and hear him bid you go and pull sinners out of the fire of sin. Put your ear down to the burdened, agonized heart of humanity, and listen to its pitiful wail for help. Go stand by the gates of hell, and hear the damned entreat you to go to their father's house and bid their brothers and sisters, and servants and masters not to come there. And then look Christ in the face, whose mercy you have professed to obey, and tell him whether you will join heart and soul and body and circumstances in the march to publish his mercy to the world. Hi Matt,
Well, that was a good read. That is exactly the sort of thinking I will encounter, indeed do encounter, all the time when I meet and talk with Swedes about life and faith. I feel vey blessed to have been educated and trained to deal with such arguments and distortions of the faith, because they do in fact make it impossible for many to believe...if they are left unanswered.
A rich Swede living in luxury but contemplating suicide from the meaninglessness of life (based on such books and articles) needs the gospel just as much as the next guy. In the end, though, it must be arguments lived and acted out on life that carries someone to Jesus. That is my goal for Sweden, to carry them to Jesus through my many weaknesses and failures, by the Spirit.
Thanks for posting the article!

Christopher Hitchens has a twin brother who is a believer and reviewed his book "God is Not Great". Some interesting insights into the world of this particular atheist.
